What is Kybella©?

Kybella is an injectable procedure administered by Nurse Practitioner Nicole. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring in our bodies found in the gallbladder that aids in the breakdown of the fats that we eat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

What to expect during my Kybella© treatment

Kybella is a treatment that will require more than one session. At each treatment, Nicole will numb you with topical numbing cream. After which, the numbing cream will be removed. The nurse practitioner will mark out the area being treated for precision and safety. You will receive multiple small injections under your chin, with a very tiny needle. The injection process takes about minutes.

How many Kybella© treatments will I need?

Since everyone's face and needs are unique, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Typically, at minimum of 2 sessions are needed but can be up to 6 treatments total. Each Kybella® treatment session is given between 4 and 6 weeks apart.

Will I need time to recover?

After each kybella treatment, you can expect to have some swelling, bruising, firmness or numbness at the treatment site. The swelling can be uncomfortable, but you can take Tylenol for the discomfort. You will need to avoid excessive heat and working out for 3 days. It is best to sleep elevated afterwards to assist with swelling.
