What is botox©
Botox© and other brands are a type of medication called neuromodulators. Neuromodulators work by relaxing the muscles where it is placed, blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. When the muscles are relaxed, it results in less wrinkling of the skin. Plan ahead, it takes up to 2 weeks for full results to take effect. Most clients say their treatment is painless. Results typically last up to 3 months.
How many units of Botox© do I need?
Most of our clients receive Botox© to temporarily improve problem areas like the forehead, crow’s feet, neck bands, frown lines, and the areas around the brow. Some treatment areas need only 5 units, while others may need 20. It is best to schedule a complimentary consultation with the Nurse Practitioner for a customized plan that fits your needs and budget.
Before Your Wrinkle Relaxer Treatment
Prior to your Botox© treatment, try to stay away from alcohol and NSAIDs like Advil for a few days before your treatment, as they increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. Come with or without makeup, we will be cleansing the area of treatment prior to injecting.
During Your Wrinkle Relaxer Treatment
The actual treatment usually will take less only a few minutes! It’s just a few small pokes, and we have a lot of distraction techniques. There is no numbing medicine administered for Botox© because the needles are super tiny, much smaller than getting your blood drawn.
After Your Treatment
After your treatment we ask that you follow a few simple rules: do not lay flat for 2 hours after treatment (keep in mind massage, dental and lash appointments), do not work out of 24 hours after treatment (you may workout before), and be careful when touching or massaging the face for the first 24 hours. Many of our clients get treated before work, during their lunch hour, or after work and return to their day with no sign of having been treated. Botox© takes 7-10 days to fully set in. With Jeuveau, results can be seen in as little as 5 days! You want to keep up with your treatments every 3 months, so it’s best to book ahead so you don’t forget.
